Modular Barite Plant

Global Chemical Industries

Kazakhstan – Central Asia

In an effort to minimize the construction and startup costs in a remote area in Kazakhstan, Global Chemicals Industries contracted with Mouat to design and build a modular barite grinding facility. It was built and commissioned in the United States and then broken down into shipping modules to be installed in Kazakhstan.

This complete grinding plant, designed with a 64 inch fluid bed roller mill system, shipped in 15 modules. Each module was designed to allow multiple units to be shipped fully assembled including electrical wire and conduit. The electrical system, including motors, MCCs and VFDs was designed for 380 Volts, 50 Hertz based on Kazakhstan national electrical standards.

An electrical room was constructed which included wiring between the switchgear, motor starters, VFD drives and the PLCs. It was shipped to Kazakhstan complete, simplifying the re-assembly and start-up of the facility.
