Mouat has always been on the leading edge, using the latest technology in the engineering process. However, over the last several years, Mouat’s investment in computer hardware, software and personnel has been unprecedented to take advantage of the advancement that has been made in 3-D computer graphic design. This investment has allowed Mouat to fully integrate each phase of the design-build process.
Today, 3-D CAD is used from concept development to final detailing. Once the conceptual model has been approved by the customer, it is further developed into a fully engineered 3-D general arrangement of equipment and building structure including all peripheral equipment and piping.
Detailers can access this model simultaneously to detail each structure and component. Ultimately, the detail drawings generated from the model are used to drive the equipment utilized in the fabrication of all structures, platforms, hoppers, chutes and conveyors.
The visual representation of the structures that 3-D design provides is invaluable; however, the most significant value is realized in the field. The reduction in the schedule and the cost of installation of equipment and assembly of structures is substantial due to a near perfect fit in the field.
